I’ve never liked tomatoes, always been hot and cold about potatoes and peppers, and have maintained a 10-foot-pole distance from eggplant at all times. I was thrilled to find out that an allergy to nightshades is a real thing, and that I had a real reason to avoid the aforementioned foods! However, it does mean that finding food is more difficult (have you ever noticed how many dishes have chili pepper in them, or are garnished with bell peppers or sun-dried tomatoes?). Especially as an actor and someone who travels a lot, people need to feed you, and it’s tough for them to do so when they have no way to find out what is safe.

Rather than staying frustrated by the lack of options, I started this site which I am updating slowly but surely. I hope to gather a great deal of information about nightshades all in one place. One place to find out what Nightshades are, what they’re doing to you if you have an “allergy” (actually, an anti-toxin deficiency), how to clear them from your body, and how to make food with nightshades substitutes or don’t require nightshades at all.

Food is exciting, but food is also an art and a science. I don’t claim to be a chef, and I am definitely re-posting materials I have seen elsewhere. As much as possible I will link to the original material, or credit the source in some manner.

Recipes are tagged with NF (Nightshade-Free), GF (Gluten-Free), WF (Wheat-Free) and DF (Dairy-Free), as those are ingredients that I myself am concerned with.

Please enjoy!
